What we do:
In short we provide a space for quad and inline skaters to skate indoors in Bundaberg. We hold monthly skate sessions on Saturdays and because we are indoors, we don't care if it rains, snows or shines! There are two sessions to choose from:
- Our daytime drop-in skate runs from 12pm-2pm. No ticket purchase necessary, pay at the door, half price entry if disco ticket purchased.
- The main event is our 5pm-8pm disco skate. This session is exactly as you'd imagine, the disco lights are flashing, the music is cranked up, and we play traditional rink games.
Do you hire skates? Yes we do!
- Limited sizes are available. This means if you are a large party we may not have skates that fit everyone. It is your responsibility to verify this before you buy (stock levels are shown next to the sizes). We rely on volunteers at our events and may not be able to fix sizing issues during the session.
- You need to size your feet before hiring. SKATES FIT LIKE SOCKS NOT SHOES. Have a look at the Imapala skate sizing chart, measure your feet in cm, as a rough guide add 0.5mm - that is the size you need. We are not suppliers of skates nor sizing experts! Your sizing is your responsibilty. No refunds will be given for incorrect sizing. Again, our events are run by volunteers. Please bear this in mind. Any revenue raised through skate hire goes to venue fees and running the event.
The boring (but necessary) stuff:
- You accept our waiver before skating. This is part of the ticket purchase process so please enter the name of each skater and make sure they accept the waiver conditions.
- You MUST specify the name of each skater on the ticket
- Only quad skates or inlines/blades permitted. No scooters, skateboards or heelies etc
- No alcohol or drugs. At all. Ever
- All belongings are left at your own risk
- You skate at your own risk at all times
- BYO safety gear. It is your responsibility to determine your own safety.
If you want to know more about how Rink Revolution was formed..
A few years ago, we lost a dear friend to multiple sclerosis. Wanting to honour her memory and appreciate our health, we decided to take up rollerskating—a childhood pastime—using a generous gift she left us. We began skating locally, joined a Learn to Skate program at a rink 40 minutes away, and quickly fell in love with the sport, enjoying the physical, mental, and family benefits it brought.
After relocating to Bundaberg, we were disheartened to find no indoor rink nearby. Still committed, we travelled monthly to Ipswich and visited other rinks across Queensland. When Skateland Gympie closed, it highlighted the lack of suitable spaces for rollerskaters in the Wide Bay region —most council areas cater to skateboards or scooters, and outdoor skating isn’t always practical.
We sought indoor venues to skate in and finally, with Bundaberg Council's support, we secured the Main Pavilion. And basically that’s how Rink Revolution was born. Our goal is to create a dedicated space for quad and inline skating, foster a sense of community involvement, and ultimately show there's a need for a proper rink in Bundaberg. We've been inspired and supported by many in the skate community, and we hope to keep the momentum rolling... Until a rink returns!!!
